0vrlndr This album immediately transports me to a universe that I want to live in and know more about. Mystery, intrigue, contemplation, hints of serenity. There are characters at work here, an interplay between personalities that is immensely gratifying, especially on multiple play throughs. Absolutely fantastic debut from Willowbranches. Favorite track: Isles of Shoals.

enfa On second listen to this album, my face disintegrated off quite entirely, leaving me unable to move for a period, A third listen restored my countenance. Though, my appearance is quite different now, smoothed in some ways, jagged in others, my heart is healed whole once more.

Recommend parking, and staying engaged, during your consumption. Do not operate heavy machinery! Good speakers a must, many nuances deserving a close listen.

A fine debut, hoping for more. Favorite track: Violet in Reverse.

about

Carnation Lily Lily Rose, the debut work from experimental composer Willowbranches, is a diverse landscape of twisted lo-fi electronics performed in a highly personal, improvisational style.

Taking inspiration from the works of John Singer Sargent, Xiu Xiu, Arthur Russell, and Sarah Davachi, the album’s three tracks are a study in contrasts, evoking haunted melodies from dense, shifting layers of harmonic distortion. The compositions breathe and drift, they wait, they surge, they falter and screech, collapse and rebuild.

Tasting notes: sea brine, dark chocolate, yellow mustard, lavender, oyster mushrooms, black pepper, collard greens, roasted eggplant, vanilla pudding.
